DOOMED MAN’S GAMBLE

LIFE, LEPROSY, OR DEATH (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) RIGA, Saturday. An amazing story of a doomed man’s gamble with life has been revealed. Dr. Sniker, of the Latvian Leprosy Institute, has obtained the consent of the authorities to experiment in inoculation upon a criminal named Kirstein, who at present is under sentence of death. Dr. Sniker contends that leprosy is not contagious and can he cured. He will inject matter from a living leper into Kirstein’s body. The man has consented to the experiment under a promise that his sentence will be remitted, though he will have to remain in gaol.
