BINDING EFFECT CREATED T. P. O’CONNOR’S VIEWS (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) (United Service) LONDON, Saturday. A banquet was given by Mr. T. P. O’Connor, M.P., in honour of his 80th birthday. In his speech Mr. O’Connor referred to the congratulatory telegram from King George, and said: “His Majesty knows very well that although I always have been, and still am, of almost extreme democratic opinions, I am convinced in my mind and conscience that without the binding effect of a popular constitutional Sovereign the unity and security of the Empire would be imperilled.”
