AUCKLAND’S EASY WIN

NORTH DEFEATED AT WHANGAREI At \Vhu.ngarei on Saturday an Auckland Rugby League team defeated North Auckland by 33 points to 9. Over 1,000 spectators saw the match which was a good exhibition of the code. Hikurangi won the toss, and Auckland kicked off into a brilliant sun. After a period of close and exciting play List scored well from an opening by Davis, but Dufty missed the kick. The next try came when Jenkinson dribbled through, and Hall snapped up, to score under the posts. Dufty converted. Ruby got the next try, by kicking through and following up to score an unconverted try. Towards the end of the spell Cunningham secured, and with a good dash scored in the corner. Hamilton missed the kick. At half-time Auckland led by 11 points to 3. In the second half North Auckland attacked strongly, but the movements were broken down by Dufty’s sure tackling or dropped passes. Then Seager kicked through the defence and Jones scored. Dufty converted. The Auckland backs were handling the ball in brilliant style. However, J. Hamilton made a great break and. accepting a return pass from Connelly, scored. Meyer failed to convert. On resuming Dufty kicked a great field goal from well out. A little later Jenkinson scored from an opening made by List, and Dufty converted. Hardgrave was the next to touch down and Dufty again converted. Davis worked the blind side of a serum and Ilardgrave outpaced the opposition and scored again. He converted his own try. Just before time was called Cunningham made a good opening for Connelly, who cut in neatly and scored- Meyer failed to convert and the game ended: Auckland, 33; North Auckland, 9.
