PROFIT OF £2,252
WINTER EXHIBITION’S SUCCESS HEAVY COST OF BUILDING The Auckland Winter Exhibition, held in July, was a financial success, the profits amounting to £2,252. The annual report of the managers, which is to be submitted to the annual meeting of the Exhibition Joint Committee on Wednesday, states that the receipts at the exhibition were £8,483, the expenditure amounting to £6,231. The Manufacturers’ Association 'and the Agricultural and Pastoral Association each take £750 as their share of the profits, the remaining £752 being the balance in the bank. The profits had been made in spite of the fact that the committee had to bear the whole cost of additions to the buildings used for the exhibition. The report goes on to state that the cost of the buildings, rent and fittings amounted to £2,700, or almost onethird of the receipts. The position called for serious consideration of the proposal to secure an exhibition building of their own. Referring to the exhibits, the report stated that the displays of primary and secondary industries were a credit to the exhibitors.
