ORPHANS' CLUB MEETS
END OF 1928 SESSION At the final meeting of the 1928 session of the Auckland Orphans’ Club on Saturday evening Mr. J. B. Johnston, the president, said that the effort in recognition of the services of the late Mr. G. F. Cater had realised £2OO. Mr. Johnston pointed out Mr. Cater’s good work as conductor of the club orchestra for several years. Mrs. Cater had stated her appreciation of the gift. The chairman conveyed the club’s thanks to Mr. Harold Baxter, the conductor to the orchestra, Mr. H. Sommerville, leader, Mr. W. D’Authreau, librarian, and the members of the orchestra; to the performers who assisted during the season, and the theatre managements; to Messrs. Cyril Towsey, T. Sparling and W. Dingle, hon. pianists; Messrs. J. D. Crawford, secretary; D. W. Dunlop, treasurer; and Percy Howden, assist-ant-secretary; and the .stewards. Messages came from the clubs at Devonport, Birkenhead, Northcote, Te Awamutu and Hamilton.
