Obituary

MR. WILLIAM COOPER One of the oldest residents of the Poverty Bay district, Mr. William Cooper, has died at the age of 76. Born at Deal Grove, Ireland. Mr. Cooper came to Auckland in the sailing ship Armstrong in 1564. and settled in Gisobrne shortly afterwards He was a member of the Ormond military constabulary and was in the expedition which finally arrested the famous Te Kooti- For about 15 years he was a stock buyer for Nelson Brothers. Limited. and lived in the Gisborne district until the time of his death.
