COTTAGE DESTROYED

FIRE AT THAMES (From Our Oxen Correspondent) TILVAIES, Sunday. Fire damaged an old four-roomed cottage, occupied by Mr. G. Burns, in Upper Albert Street, at 2 a.m. to-day. There was considerable delay in giving the alarm, and the building was in flames when the Thames Volunteer Fire Brigade arrived. The blaze was extinguished after a struggle. A further outbreak two hours later completely destroyed the cottage. Fortunately the larger part of the furniture had been removed after the first blaze.

The house was owned by Air. H. Bagley, of Taumarunui.
