SALT IN BEER

BREWERY FINED £5 Press Association. PALMERSTON N., To-day. The Tui Brewery Company, Mangatainoka, pleaded guilty to a charge of having an excessive amount of salt in a sample of beer which was analysed. Defendants stated they were unable to account for the extra 15 grains of salt a gallon. The Crown solicitor said the company was warned last year and suggested that carelessness was the reason for the presence of too much chloride in the beer. The magistrate, Mr. J. L. Stout, imposed a fine of £5 and costs.
