CANCELLED STAMP USED PROSECUTION AT HAMILTON (From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON. To-day. For affixing a cancelled postage stamp to a letter, a young man, John lretone. was fined £2 and costs at the Hamilton Police Court this morning. John Fagan was placed on probation for 12 months for the theft of £3 4s 3d from his workmates. Air. YVvvern Wilson, S.M., said the fact that accused was 43 years old, with a good character, suggested the present offence was merely a slip. A milk vendor, William Pryce Jenkins. was fined 40s and costs 'for failing to keep a look-out at the Victoria Street crossing. The tail of his milk float was carried away by an engine. The magistrate commented that the bells at many crossings were of little use as the dri\A?rs of vehicles could not hear them. A young man. Frederick William Conford Goucher, was committed for trial on five charges of indecent assault on boys.
