DESTRUCTOR FOR NORTH SHORE
USE BY COMBINED BOROUGHS The destructor erected by the combined boroughs of Devonport, Takapuna and Northcote was yesterday subjected to a final test on behalf of the contractor. The total cost completed is approximately £6,000, which has been contributed by the three boroughs. Among those present at the trial were the Mayors of the three boroughs, Messrs. E. Aldridge, J. \V. Williamson and A. E. Greenslade, the respective borough engineers and a number of councillors. Mr. A. Slinger, Takapuna Borough engineer, explained the workings, and said the daily consumption was 10 tons of refuse. Dr. 11. Chesson, medical officer of health, was also present, and congratulated the boroughs on their enterprise in providing such a modern method of disposing of the waste and rubbish collected.
