MERMAIDS OF 1928

“Dressing up” has been the delight of feminine nature from Eve to Miss 1928, and will continue to be so as long as women are women. So there is little to be surprised about now that fashion has brought all her cleverness into the novel bathing suits which are really fancy costumes. Red Riding Hood will have her swim this season and be introduced to Little Boy Blue and other fairy-tale folk. Jockeys will ride the breakers, and Peter Pans dance about the beach sands as impishly as ever enchanted garden witnessed. Despite the amount of detail in these bathing suits, so that the cor-

rect effect is obtained, the costumes are as neat as they are attractive. MANY PETALS A Peter Pan costume, recently shown in Sydney, is made perfectly straight, but is embossed with multicoloured petals all over. The cap is made in the same fashion, together with a smart pair of shoes. The jockey suit shows a bright little vest worn over tight breeches, buttoned up the legs. Red Riding Hood styles may be worn either with or without the red wrap which gives conviction to the result. The Russian suit is made with a light top, fitting over black knickers, and trimmed with white towelling which resembles fur. The hat .is a jaunty affair no girl could resist.
