CORNER IN POTATOES
THREATENED RESTRICTION OF TRADE MINISTER WILL INQUIRE (TIIE SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, Friday. The disclosure that a “corner” has been effected in the New Zealand potato supply was mentioned in the House to-day by Mr. M. J. Savage (Auckland West), who quoted the article in Thursday’s Sun, and asked the Minister, the Hon. A. D. McLeod, to have investigations made, so that restriction of trade on the part of any firm could bo prevented. Mr. McLeod said his colleague, the Minister of Agriculture, had covered the subject fully, in answer to a question asked by Mr. W. S. Glenn the day before. On any indication of a serious shortage in any foodstuff his officers would investigate, without the need of any direction from him. In this case lie had so far heard nothing from them, but ho would immediately have a report presented.
