WAIKOKOPU WHARF ON FIRE
SHIP’S CREW FIGHTS FLAMES Press Association WAIROA. Friday. A fire occurred on the wharf a* Waikokopu this morning. The crew of the Richardson steamer Maka which was coming into port at an early hour, noticed the rope-shed and watersiders’ room on fire, nd immediately got out the ship’s hoses. The crew quic* ly subdued flames, but not before the waiting roo® and shed containing a qu ntity of S was destroyed. A portion of the wbaj 1 decking was burned. The promptitu«® of the captain of the Mako undoubtedly saved the wharf from destruction
