INTER-HOUSE SPORTS
BIG DAY NEXT MONTH A.G.A.A. ACTIVELY PREPARING The controversy that is going on between supporters of the Auckland Girls’ Athletic Association and the Auckland Hockey Association over the Remuera ground is liable to cause many people to lose sight of the fact that there is another girls’ sports movement in Auckland, which has been
functioning quietly and effectively* for several years past. There is no need to go into the rights and wrongs of the argument over the hockey* ground, but it may be pointed out that the Auckland Girls' Inter-house Association is a distinct organisation, which has no connection with the hockey ground. This was the first girls’ sports association formed in Auckland, and possibly the first in the Dominion. It has held an annual sports gathering every year for the past four years, and this year’s sports will take place at Carlaw Park on November 17. Interviewed by a Sun reporter, Miss E. L. Wagnflj. president of the association, stated that no fewer than 400 girls, representing the different soft-goods houses, would be competing, and that this year’s sports gave every indication o*. proving as successful as those held in previous years.
