THAMES GIRLS’ CLUB CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY DANCE IN DRUIDS' HALL The Thames Girls’ Club celebrated its first birthday with a social and dance in the Druids’ Hall on Wednesday evening. The hall was artistically decorated with streamers and balloons with a big pennant of the club banner as the leit-motif in the scheme. Morrow’s Orchestra provided excellent dance music. Enjoyable musical numbers were given by Mrs. Wright, Mrs. Hillyer, Miss Middleton and Mr. Li. Keven. Mr. Thomas Aitken, of the Thames Old Hoys’ Association, presented Mrs. McGregor, president of the club with a beautiful bouquet and commented on the excellent and rapid strides the club had made in such a short period, and on behalf of the club thanked Airs. DANCE AT WAIMAUKU On Wednesday evening a dance was held in the Coronation Hall at Waimauku, and the “proceeds, which amounted to more than £lO, were added to the fund for reducing the mortgage on the Waimauku Sports Ground. The hall was decorated with peach blossom, nikau palm, shaded lights and streamers. Novelty dances were won as follow:—Monte Carlo waltz, Mrs. Mcllveen and Mr. E. C. Sutton; spot waltz, Miss O. Foster and Mr. B. Feteher; baloon dance. Mrs. T. G. McDonald and Mr. R. Monk. Visitors came from Taupaki, Helensville, Kumeu and Woodhill.

Norman Collins, who has recently been in Sydney, has returned to Hamilton. Lady Pomare, who has been in Wellington for the last few days, is again in Hamilton, the guest of Mrs. Owen i Alonckton. Airs. R. H. Boyd and Airs. E. P. Cowles are spending some days in Kawhia Aliss Alice Brewster, of New Plymouth, is the guest of Mrs. T. A. Alilroy. * MUSICAL AFTERNOON On Tuesday Airs. F. Pinfold gave a most enjoyable afternoon at her home for some of her musical friends. Airs. Curling, and their committee had worked hard and great success attended their efforts. The different stalls were apportioned as follows: Work stall, in the charge of Alesdaines Lamprill and E. Progressive bridge and crib were played, the successful bridge players for the evening being Mrs. Duncan and Mr. Ogg, the cribbage prize going to Mrs. Sage and Mr. W. Tye. The president, Mrs. Johnston, congratulated the committee on its season’s work and axvarded the following prizes for the highest scores: Bridge, Miss A.
