i panics the stake, and although the , majority of the races are confined to I the novice brigade there is plenty of J material to ensure exciting sport. The Main Items The chief event —Methven Clip—contains some promising performers, and included in the list are Royal Authoress, Linkman, Denver's Doll, Real Light, Great Triumph, Travis Axworthy, Kreisler. Mac Dillon. Erin's Royal and Bay Nut, all of whom have some form to recommend them. Travis Axworthy, Bay Nut and Real Light ; would appear to have the best credentials and will no doubt appeal most to backers. In the Visitors’ Handicap, several good-class candidates will try conclusions, and among the most notable are 'White Sun, Loiterer, Dick Logan. Mac Dillon. Dundas Boy, Waiapa, Invader, Erin’s Royal, Locanda General and High Jinks. With recent form as a guide the public will probably select Mac Dillon, Invader and Dundas Boy as main fancies. The Mount Hutt Handicap is for those who like 10 feel the weight on their back and in this section can be mentioned Bingen Patch Vikota, Sylvie Logan, Avonwood, My Sonny, Mavis Wood, Royal Authoress. Donard. King Abdallah and Sonoma Star. The favourites may be Bingen Patch, Donard and Royal Authoress. The Square-Gaiters Among a big field of novices in the Drayton Handicap. Tod Bingen. Brandean, Scuttle and Blue and Gold are a promising quartet, while the Sires’ Produce winner. Manhattan, should be able to concede them 24yds. Nancy Bingen, Carclo, Leo Beilman, Kitty Patch and Molly Molloy are others with good prospects, but Manhattan and Scuttle will perhaps find most favour. For the two-mile event. Riverbank Handicap, Carclo, Brent Bov, Nancy Bingen, Quickfire and Kitty Patch will command respect, but despite his handicap of 144yds New Metford will be favourite, with possibly Carclo next in demand. Novices* Contests The public may have some difficulty in arriving at a decision in the Westward Ho Handicap, in which many promising pacers are engaged. Lindbergh, • Moving Pointer, Lady Bee, Ariki Toa and Limosa may claim most attention, with good support for Limosa and Lady Bee. Many of these are engaged in the Avonmore Handicap, but in addition will be found Prince Chimes and Becky Mine, whose recent form will entitle them to keener support. Some with more pretensions to higher grade will meet in the Mount Harding Handicap, and with Ecstasy, Guide Rangi, Forward Maid, Moneymore, Pet Locanda, Mary Locanda, Milo Minto, Great Audo and Audience, there is plenty to furnish good speculation. Pet Locanda and Mary Locanda may be in most demand.
