ELEVENTH ANNIVERSARY TO-DAY To-day is the eleventh anniversary of ine New Zealand Division’s memorable entry into “The Battle of the Ridges,” ne * r YPres, during the Great War. ioiV rivins . in tlle on October 2, 1917, the division made two main attacks, one on October 4 and the other °n October 12. The first attack was comparatively successful, but the second, which was made by 2nd and 3rd New Zealand brigades against Bellvue Spur, on October 12, received the one great check the division’s history in Franco and ■Belgium. After a period of bombardjnent the Spur was afterwards taken by the Canadians.
