JOCKEYS PLAY LEAGUE

INTER-ISLAND GAME VICTORY FOR SOUTH The North and South Island jockeys played a return League match at Carlaw Park yesterday, when South reversed the previous result by winning by 17 points to 3. On this occasion the teams were thoroughly representative, and many of the leading horsemen took part in the game. Early in the first half North lost the services of R. McTavish and J. Sharkey, who retired with injuries. From then on South had all the better of the play, and ran out easy winners. For South tries were socred by O’Connor (2), H. Dunn, T. Green and Gilmer, and J. Gray kicked a goal. For the losers Garrett scored a try. T. Green and J. Gray played good football for the winners, while S. Henderson was easily the most impressive player for North.
