Mr. E. H. Nnrthcroft left for Wellington by the Limited last evening. Mr. T. Valois returned to Auckland this morning after a visit to Wellington. Dr. E. .T. Rayner, who has been visiting Wellington, returned to Auckland this morning by the Limited. Mr. R. Beale, of Christchurch, arrived in Auckland this morning by the rtrst express. Mr. W. Goodfellow, managing director of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, arrived from the South by the Limited this morning. Mr. A. F. Ellis, New Zealand member of the British Phosphate Commission, left for Wellington last evening. He will return to Auckland in a few days. Mr. W. M. Cole, who lias succeeded Mr. C. L. Pettit as chief clerk to the divisional superintendent. North Island Railways, took up his new duties to-day. Bishop Cherrington, who has been visiting Christchurch. returned to Hamilton by the Limited this morning. He was accompanied by Mrs. Cherrington. Mr. Ernest Lilly, organist and choirniaser of St. Peter's, Tukapuna, will resign his post at the end of this month, owing to lack of time in which to carry out his work. Mr. E. Napier, manager of the New Zealand Fruitgrowers’ Federation and secretary of tho New Zealand Fruit Export Board, who hits been visiting Auckland, returned by train to Wellington last evening. The Hon. Sir R. Heaton Rhodes, M.L.C.. and Mr. R. D. Ardell, of the Internal Affairs Department, will arrive in Auckland on Sunday to meet Lord Lovat, chairman of the Overseas Settlement Committee, who arrives by the Niagara on Monday. Mr. F. D. McGovern, formerly manager of the Bank of New South Wales in Timaru, has been appointed assistant manager of the. Auckland Branch. He arrived from Timaru a few days ago and has now begun his duties in Auckland. Mr. C. B. Plummer has been elected president of the Auckland Choral Society in place of the late Mr. Charles Hudson. Mr. Plummer, who has been connected with musical activities in Auckland for many years, is on the executive of the Bohemian Orchestra and the Auckland Amateur Operatic Society, as well as the Auckland Choral Society.
