GAOLED FOR CAR THEFT
BROTHER’S BID FOR LIBERTY S.M. GRANTS REHEARING Following an application made by Mr. Allan Moody yesterday, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., announced at the Police Court this morning that he had decided to grant a rehearing of the case against James Russell, who was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment last Saturday. Russell, in company with his twin brother, was convicted of converting to his own use a car in which the two were captured in Park Road after a scuffle and chase. A third occupant of the car, still known to the court as “Leo,” will give evidence at the new trial, as will Russell’s wife. The case will be reheard on Monday. Bail was fixed in one surety of £25.
