(From Our Own CorrespondentJ HAMILTON, Wednesday. Hats apparently do not always live on a “hand to mouth” existence, but are as adept at "saving up for a rainy day” as human beings. While the once owned by the Waikato Farmers’ Supply Stores, in Collingwood Street, were being renovated to-day, a partition at the rear of the shop was pulled down, revealing a space Sin wide between the walls and 10ft long, which was packed one foot high with nuts. It appears that rats hoarded the nuts when the Supply Stores occupied the building.
