Giant Zeppelin Flies Over England
BATTLE WITH GALES GLOWING LIGHTS IN SKY (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 12.30 p.m. LONDON, Tuesday. The giant Graf Zeppelin, following a tourtuous course from Friedrichs Hafen and frequently altering its course owing to gales and headwinds, passed over Lowestoft, at -9 o’clock to-night. The airship left her hangar at 7 a.m. with 70 people aboard, including 20 passengers for whom a whereto four-course dinner was served at a cost of 4s. • The airship presented a splendid sight with her glowing lights. The original intention to cruise to Stockholm had to be abandoned owing to the weather. Instead the airship crossed to England, over which it cruised all night. It will fly back to Hamburg and Berlin to-morrow. At the outset the airship baltied with the gales and its course was altered toward Berlin. Then a detour was made via Frankfurt. The Zeppelin passed over Doom, where the ex-Kaiser and his family were out of doors and cheered it. Amsterdam was sighted at 7 o’clock. Berlin excitedly followed the flight. Gramophone records played on board were relayed by wireless in Germany. It was first believed that the Zeppelin would moor at the Cardington mast, but the authorities announced that no arrangements for a landingstaff had been made.
