“RATTLING THEIR RIBS”
HAVELOCK WILSON AND REDS GREAT RECEPTION IN WALES (United Service) LONDON, Tuesday. Mr. J. Havelock Wilson, the noted Labour leader, was given a great reception at Newport, Wales, yesterday. He was presented with an illuminated address to mark his half a century of service to the National Sailors’ and Firemen’s Union, and his 70th birthday, which occurred on August 16. Mr. Wilson is now in much better health than he was a month ago. He was wheeled into the hall in a chair. In a characteristic speech he said that as far as the Bolsheviks were concerned he was certainly “rattling their ribs” and intended to continue to do so. There was only one way to solve the unemployment problem, namely, by commonsense and goodwill. He said he would like the industrial unions to take the matter in hand. It would be much better if the Labour leaders would talk about real questions that w --Id be useful to-day, u r. a century hence, instead of talking so much about politics.
