SCHOOLS WANT CLINSCS

CARE OF CHILDREN’S TEETH OFFER FROM HAMILTON Hamilton is so keen about a properly equipped dental clinic that it is offering to raise one-third of the cost of the building to be erected in the Hamilton West School ground if a subsidy of £2 for £1 is forthcoming. At present there are two dental nurses at Hamilton, but the clinic is in the town hall. The Auckland Education Board, which received the application to-day,

resolved to apply to the department for a subsidy. Regarding the application for the establishment of a dental clinic at Matamata Junior High School, the Director of Dental Hygiene wrote stating that no service was available at present, but that the application would be considered when the next class of probationer nurses had finished their training. The headmaster of Ngaruawahia wrote asking for permission to estab--7 lish a sub-dental clinic there is conjunction with the Huntly clinic, and offering to grant his room for use as the clinic. The chairman of the board, Mr. A. j Burns: We should offer no objection if the Dental Department is satisfied. At Onehunga a corridor is used. 1 “Does the department approve of the > hj r gienic surroundings of corridors?” asked Mr. H. S. W. King. The Chairman: Evidently. The One- * hunga people have a dental nurse, but , no room.
