TAURANGA TOPICS
The Tauranga Chamber of Commerce monthly meeting was held on Monday evening and w'as largely attended. The final arrangements for entertaining the Auckland visitors by the commerce train were adopted. Reference was made to the services rendered by Mr. R. H. Boyd to the chamber, when he was chief postmaster at the Thames, and it was decided to congratulate him upon bis promotion to the chief postmastership at Wellington. The proposed programme of excursion trains by the Railway Department for the summer season was before the chamber in detail, and great satisfaction was expressed by the members. It was reported that the Borough Council is to make a number of improvements at the camping grounds on the waterfront. These grounds are ideal for campers, being situated in the town and alongside the harbour front, where saltwater bathing can be had. The clean sandy beach is an excellent playing ground for the children. 4 The indications are that Tauranga will be a very popular “watering place” this year. Application is to be made to the Post and Telegraph Department ta complete the telephone service-line between Matamata and Tauranga, via the Kaimai Road.
