RIALTO AND REGENT, EPSOM
“THE BIG PARADE” Among the great war pictures that have been made, “The Big Parade” stands out as a dramatic masterpiece. There are parts of this picture which have never been eqaulled in war films. “The Big Parade” will he shown at the Rialto and Regent (Epsom) Theatres for the last time this evening. John Gilbert and Renee Adoree have never been equalled in war films. The story tells of the friendship of three young men from widely different social backgrounds, who are hurled together in the maelstrom of war. The life of the common soldier in the tienches breaks down all social barriers, and they became firm friends. John Gilbert, Karl Bane as “Slim,’ and Tom O’Brien, are the three boys. An excellent supporting programme is also presented.
A feature of the screen version of “Abiess Irish Rose,” which Paramount has produced, is, according to Anne Nichols, the author, its faithful portrayal of the basic idea of tolerance, which was the main theme of Miss Nichols’s original work. Charles Rogers and Nancy Carroll are featured in the name parts,.
