BRITISH PICTURE IN GERMANY
“The Ring” was exhibited recently at Berlin’s latest pictux-e theatre the Titania. The British Ambassador with a distinguished gathering attended the performance and the reception accorded to Britain’s youngest producer, Mr. Alfred Hitchcock, was most enthusiastic. The principal players, Karl Brisson and Lilian Hall-Davis, who appeared in person, were also given a most hearty ovation. The German Press was most generous of their criticisms and some of therm went as far as to state, “This is a British film which any American Broadway cinema manager could book for a certain three months' run.” Cinema Art Films will bp releasing “The Ring” during the coming year.
Alexander Korda has been assigned to direct “The Squall” for First National Pictures. The distinguished Hungarian director is now making “His Wife’s Affair” with Billie Dove. “The Squall” is from the successful stage play of that name, and will probably be a Firnatone production, with the players speaking their lines and other sound synchronisation on the screen. Lajos Biro is adapting this t>lay for the films.
