MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS
PLUNKET SHIELD DATES The first meeting of the newlyelected Management Committee of the Auckland Cricket Association was held last evening. Mr. H. B. Lusk, the senior vice-president present, being appointed chairman pro tern. Considerable discussion followed a letter from the Wellington Cricket Association suggesting the following dates for the Plunket Shield matches this season: December 22, 24, 25, 26, Otago v. Auckland, at Dunedin, and Canterbury v’. Wellington, at Christchurch; December 29, 31, and January 3,2, Wellington v. Otago, at Wellington, and Canterbury v. Auckland, at Christchurch; January IS, 19, 21, 22, Auckland v. Wellington, at Auckland. The match between Canterbury and Otago to be arranged. It was pointed out that this was not the original programme decided upon by all the associations. Mr. E. E. Nalder characterised it as an effort on Wellington's part to get what Auckland was entitled to, being the team which will have to travel furthest this season. On the motion of Mr. N. C. Snedden, it was decided to write Wellington, Canterbury, and Otago regretting that the Auckland Association could not fall in with the suggestion, and recommending that the original programme be adhered to. The young Sussex professional playercoach. J. Langricige, is much in demand by the clubs. Applications for his services were received from the Parnell, United Suburbs, and North Shore Clubs, while the Grafton delegate hinted that his club would be applying also. It was decided to defer the question till the closing of competition entries. ENTRIES REFUSAL RUMOUR
Messrs. E. E. Nalder, N. C. Snedden, and E. C. Beale were appointed a subcommittee to report on the state of the grounds at the next meeting. Entries for all grades close on October 16, at 5 p.m. The chairman drew attention to a rumour prevalent that the association has refused entries on account of shortage of grounds. He wished to deny this. All entries would be received, and every effort would be made to provide sufficient grounds for all matches. Messrs. Nalder and Snedden were appointed to confer with delegates of the Auckland City and Suburban Cricket Association, and the Parks Committee of the Auckland City Council, over the allocation of wickets for the ensuing season. Mr. Snedden moved, and Mr. Lusk seconded, a proposal to transfer £IOO of last season’s credit balance to the association’s foundation fund. In connection with the formation of the junior committee for the season, it was decided to call a meeting at an early date at which will be present one delegate from each club entering a junior team, together with a representative from the Primary Schools’ Association. This meeting will nominate seven members to constitute the junior committee. Messrs. W. J. Smeeton, E. C. Beale, E. E. Nalder, N. C Snedden, and J. H. Watts were appointed the coach committee.
