GERMAN MILITARISM
POINCARE’S VEILED HINT RHINELAND DISCUSSIONS (Australian and A’.Z. Press Association) PARIS, Monday. When he was unveiling a war memorial at Chambery, the Premier, M. Poincare, alluded to the recent Rhineland discussions by the six Great Powers at Geneva. He veiledly referred to Germany’s societies for military training and the facilities for converting industries to a war footing. He said that while France had trodden the path of disarmament she must consider the risks of attack. Nevertheless, he hoped to resume the conversations with Germany in a spirit of goodwill and would await the result with confidence. Any settlement to be equitable to France must guarantee not only what she owed to creditors but must include an indemnity for war damage.
