SWIFT RIVER HARNESSED
LONGEST POWER-LINE IN WORLD CANADIAN ENTERPRISE (United Service) Reed. 9.20 a.m. OTTAWA, Monday. The Paugen River, with its swiftflowing rapids and turbulent falls, has been transformed into one of the largest and most complete power units in America. The power was turned on to-day. The transmission line is the greatest in the world in length, and the load it carries is 250,000 horse-power. It stretches for 226 miles into Toronto. The average voltage is 226,000.
