“BEEN HERE BEFORE”
PROBATION FOR THIEF “He told me the old story about meeting a man in the street, so I knew he had been here before.” The comment made by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., on Edward Charles Sadler, who came up for sentence at the Police Court this morning for stealing a watch valued at £45 from Frederick Fish, was confirmed by the “list” submitted by Chief-Detective Hammond. On the recommendation of the Probation Officer, Mr, W. J. Campbell, Sadler was admitted to probation for two years, restitution of £2 to be made. “If it were not for the fact f hat you have had a clear record for two years, I would give you six months.” said MK Hunt, as Sadler left the dock.
