NOT SHODDY
AUSTRALIAN CLOTHING MANUFACTURERS’ STANDARD “Wo used to hear that the Australian manufacturers of clothing turned out a lot of shoddy stuff, but I found that such Is certainly not the case,” said Mr. Hugh Wright, who arrived in Auckland by the Ulimaroa this morning. Mr. Wright spent a month in Sydney and visited most of the larger drapery concerns. “Competition is very keen,” ho remarked to a Sun representative, “and they are making very good stuff. In fact their goods are splendid. It is the survival of the fittest in Sydney retail business.” He added that although Australia had gone ahead by leaps and bounds in the clothing manufacturing industry, New Zealand firms could still hold their own, and their goods were recognised as being of a particularly high standard of quality.
