EFFICIENT STAFF
ONEHUNGA’S FINANCES STATEMENT WITHIN 24 HOURS Although its period ended on Sunday, September 30, the halfyearly statement of finances in the Onehunga Borough was presented by the Town Clerk to the council within 24 hours. At last evening’s council meeting, in committee, the following financial i>: vtieulars were submitted: Expenditure.—Streets, £3.028; waterworks, £1,385; street lighting, £1,13(.; hospital levy, £1,743; cemetery, £9oHreserves and parks. £689; repairs to Mangere Bridge, £327; motor trucks. £489; 5 per cent, discount in rates, £712; interest and sinking fund, on loan. £10,532; office salaries, £s7£refuse removal, £377. Revenue.—Rates, £14,383; arrears on rates, £1,227; sale of water by meter. £3,018: cemetery receipts, £1,430; Government subsidy on rates. £450; share of vehicle licences, £940; 10 per cent, penalty on rates, £140; refuse fees, £519; petrol tax. £4«t: refund from one Tree Hill Road Board, £750. Tho total revenue. £26.153, was £577 in excess of the expenditure. The council passed a resolution congratulating tho Town Clerk and the office staff on their promptitude in bringing the statement forward.
