COMPANY’S SUSPICIONS THREE OFFENDERS FINED Press Association GREYMOUTH, To-day. Two miners, M. Muir and E. Jin lli - nan, junr., were each fined £2, with costs, for having matches in their possession while working in the Dobson mine. Thomas Hills was similarly fined for having a cigarette in his possession. He was also fined £l, with costs, for using threatening language, and £ 1 with costs for assault. Counsel for the prosecution said that the company had every reason to believe that smoking was going on in the mine, and anything might happen. Tho position was becoming serious. Ho asked that the maximum penalty bo inflicted in future cases.
