r Joinery Shed Fire.—The Takapuna Fire Brigade received a call at 1.30 p.m., on Saturday to a joinery shed in The Terrace, Takapuna. The outbreak was extinguished before much damage was done. Cruelty To Horse.—lt was stated on Friday that Horace Grim mins was fined for ill-treating a horse. The defendant, who was convicted and fined £2, was William Maurice Crimmins. Fire In Parnell.—A house at 4 Eglington Street, Parnell, occupied by Mr. A. Cuddifid. was damaged by fire on Saturday evening. The Fire Brigade turned out promptly and prevented the house from being totally destroyed. Over 10,000 Opossums Trapped.—The number of opossum skins stamped in Christchurch during the trapping season just closed was 10,276, against 7,213 last season. The average price received per skin was 12s 6d.

New Town Hall. —The Hunterville Town Board lias decided to erect a new Town Hall in Bruce Street, the main business thoroughfare of Hunterville. An offer of a site in 7*l line Street, made by Mr. H. J. D. McManaway, was declined.

Motor-Car On Fire. —Early on Saturday evening a motor-car caught fire in Upper Queen Street and was badly damaged before the brigade could get the flames under control. The car was owned by Mr. S. A. Blake, manager of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company’s factory at Waiuku, and was insured for £l2O in the National Insurance Company.

Hospital Wireless Fund. —A collection taken at the principal sports grounds on Saturday in aid of the hospital patients’ wireless fund resulted in the raising of a further £3O, bringing the total to £lB3. It is the objeoTcf the committee organising the appeal for funds to raise £1,500 with which it would be possible to instal suitable wireless equipment at a cost of £3 a bed.
