NGATARINGA CLUB The erection of a club pavilion was the main subject discussed at a special meeting of the Ngataringa Tennis Club last evening. The secretary reported that the Devonport Borough Council was unable to finance the building, but that Mr. P. Ellisdon. a member of the council, had introduced a building contractor who was willing to do so. After considerable discussion it was resolved that the committee should be authorised to spend £650 this year on a pavilion if it could obtain for that sum a suitable building of two storeys not smaller than 40ft by 20ft.
It was decided to hold the official opening of the club’s courts for the season on October 13. An American tpujiiamen t. open to members and friends, will take place during the Labour Bay week-end. It was decided that the club would again enter in the inter-club competitions.
The secretary reported that the booking for the comedy, “Silken Cords,” to be staged at the Town Hall in aid of the pavilion fund, was heavy, and that £l3O was already credited to this fund from the recent art union.
