SERVICE TO FARMERS
CHEAP FREIGHT FOR WOOL RAILWAYS’ BID FOR TRADE Arrangements tp give quick and safe transport of wool have been made by the New Zealand Railways for the forthcoming season. Free help will be given with the loading of bales at all man-in-charge stations, and the whole service will be worked as urgent business. An appeal is being made to farmers to support the service which is helping with cheap rates for machinery, manures, live-stock, and other concessions. The more farmers use the railways, it is said, the more the railways will be able to increase the material assistance to primary producers. '
Specimen rates per bale of wool are as follow: —25 miles, 2s sd; 50 miles, 4s lOd; 75 miles, 6s 2d; 100 miles, 7s; 150 miles, 8s 4d. Stationmasters will give any further information required.
