HANGING ROUND SHOPS
PROBATIONER COMMITS THEFT Norman Frederick Thornton, ‘aged 20, who pleaded guilty to a charge of theft at the Police Court this morning, was remanded for a week so that the probation officer, Mr. W. J. Campbell, could make inquiries about him. “This boy, who is already on probation, was hanging round a block of shops yesterday,” said Sub-"lnspector McCarthy. “People became suspicious and a constable was called in, with the result that the boy was found to have in his possession motor accessories and a few letters that he had taken from a private letter-box. “You ought to go to the Borstal,” said Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., but we will wait a week and see what Mr. Campbell has to say about you.”
