INHALED GAS FUMES
TAILOR’S DEATH IN FLAT FELL GN GAS HEATER “I think deceased unconsciously inhaled gas fumes and then fell on the gas beater while unconscious; Ido not think he committed suicide,” said Dr. G. S. Moore, at an inquest held yesterday concerning the death of Percival Hunt, aged 42. Mr. Hunt died on the night of September 10, as a result of unconsciously inhaling gas from a heater in a flat in Park Road. By occupation deceased was a tailor. He was a widower. According to Mrs. L. F. Brooks, sister of deceased, she made the discovery of her brother's death when she visited his place on the morning of September 11. On going into the sitting room she found he had fallen off a chair and was lying across the small gas heater which was in the corner of the room. The heater was broken and 'there was a smell of escaping gas in the room, although one window was open. Every night her brother used to sit in front of the heater and read. Frequently he used to go to sleep in the chair. “I think he fell off while asleep and w*s suffocated,” Mrs. Brooks said. The coroner. Mr. F. K. Hunt, S»M.. returned a verdict of accidental tfedSh by gas poisoning.
