CENTRAL THEATRE PAPATOETOE

REVUE AND PICTURES The Punch Bowl Revue Company will present their enjoyable entertainment at the Central Theatre, Papatoetoe, this evening. This company is a combination of star performers from London who are at present touring the world, presenting gems from the latest London revues. The players include Zenda Banky, a classical and acrobatic dancer. Miss Banky can do everything that any other dancer can do, and does it very well. She is graceful in her classical dances, unbelievably nimble in the acrobatic style, and her final appearance in an Apache dance is something to be remembered. A feature of the entertainment is the ballet, a bevy of beautiful girls who, smartly frocked, put in some hard work. Songs, dances and skits compose the remainder of an enjoyable hour’s entertainment. A full pictorial programme will also be presented this evening. DE LUXE, MT. ALBERT “THE GARDEN OF ALLAH” "The . Garden of Allah” is the big attraction at the De Luxe Theatre, Mount Albert, this evening. Alice Terry and Ivan Petrovich play the leading roles in this screen version of Robert Hichens’s famous romance of love in the desert, and thousands of Arab tribesmen, blinding sandstorms and intimate glimpses of native life are among the interesting highlights of "The Garden of Allah.” Made on the authentic locales mentioned in the story on the great Sahara Desert and in Northern Algeria, the new picture tells the story of a Trappist monk’s love for a woman, of his marriage to her, and of his subsequent return to the monastery. A lull supporting programme is being presented.
