MR. CECIL MARKS RETURNS
UNITED ARTISTS’ REPRESENTATIVE A notable figure In moving picture circlea in Australia is at present visiting Auckland in Mr. Cecil Marks, special representative for United Artists Films. Mr. Marks is renewing his acquaintance with New Zealand after an absence of six years, and is greatly impressed with the wonderful progress that has taken place in the entertainment field during that time. For instance, in Wellington, the He Luxe Theatre and Regent Theatres are new, and the New Majestic, which is now in the course of construction, will, in his opinion, compare favourably with, or even outclass, anything in
Now Zealand. In Auckland he has visited the Majestic and Regent, which, he admits, compare favourably with many of the leading picture theatres in Australia. The United Artists organisation has given picture-lovers outstanding attractions for 1928, such as “The Circus.” “My Best Girl,” “Sorrell and Son.” and “Ramona.” Mr. Marks definitely states that United Artists will release only 16 super special productions for 1929. The Australian head office of United Artists Films has been very pleased with the reception accorded their pictures in New Zealand. It is their policy to distribute only productions of high-class entertainment value. They are looking for equally cordial receptions in the coming year.
