♦ . TWO MEN FINED Pleading Kuilty to being drunk in charge of a horse and cart in Broadway, Newmarket, last evening, James Langton, a dealer, aged 39, was fined £ 3 at the Police Court this morning. John Denize, a farmer, aged 72. was similarly charged, but denied that he was in charge of the vehicle. Langton admitted that it was his horse and cart. “Denize may have been getting a lift home,” said Sub-Inspector McCarthy, “but the constable was not to know that. Langton was leading the horse, and the other man looked as though he was trying to drive.” De»ize was fined 5s for being drunk, and a further 10s for breaking the terms of a prohibition order issued against him at Onehunga on August 31.
