OLD MAN KILLED
KNOCKED DOWN BY LORRY j Press Association NAPIER, Friday. An inmate of the Park Island Home, John McCready, aged 75, was knocked down by a motor-lorry on the Taradale-Napier Road about 8.30 a.m. to-day, and suffered injuries from Which he died in the Napier Hospital at 11 a.m. * A lorry belonging to the home was making a trip to Napier, and Mr. McCready, who was going to Greenmeadows, was offered a lift. The driver put him down at a corner on the Taradale Road, and, thinking that the old man was in a safe position, proceeded to turn the lorry. Apparently Mr. McCready had wandered back on to the track of the lorry, and he was knocked down.
