BILLIARDS RECORD.—In a billiards match against Smith at Liverpool, Newman scored 1,166 (unfinished) in the afternoon and in the evening completed a break of 1,231. After having fluctuated since January between 2,000,000 and 2,500,000, the figure is now about 3,000,000, including 500,000 skilled workers.
