Mrs. W. Stevens, of Hunterville, is a guest at Arundel. Mrs. W. S. Williams, of Cambridge, is visiting Auckland. Miss J. G. Francis, of Brisbane, is a guest at the Star Hotel. At the Royal are Mr. and "Mrs. E. J. Ulunder, of Palmerston North. Mrs. Souter and Miss Margaret Souter, of Cambridge, are visiting Auckland. Mrs. Ellerm, who has been a visitor to Auckland, has returned to New Plymouth. Mrs. Paul Studholme, of the Bay of Islands, is visiting Auckland, and is staying at Arundel. * * * Miss F. Rogerson, of New Plymouth, and Miss Clark, of Nelson, are staying at the Hotel Miss Calvart, who had been spending some months in Auckland, has gone to Cambridge for a visit. At the Grand are Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Currie, of Kai Iwi, and Mr. and Mrs. W. Birch, of Palmerston North. Mrs. C. A. Cummings, of Epsom, and Miss Joan Cummings are spending a few weeks at Hauraki Road, Takapuna.

Mrs. E. C. Huie, of Parnell, who has been visiting friends in the South, is now the guest of Mrs. R. Woolwork, Christchurch.

Mr. G. W. Lloyd, president of the Christchurch Returned Soldiers’ Association, is visiting Auckland, accompanied by his wife. They are staying with their daughter, Mrs. R. Porter. PEACH-BLOSSOM PARTY BIRTHDAY HONOURED A large number of young people was entertained by Mr.' and Mrs. W. K. A. Stewart at a “Peach-Blossom Party” given at their home, “Dalkeith,” Northcote, on the occasion of their daughter. Jean’s birthday. Dancing and competitions were enjoyed, the winners of the latter being the Misses Tremain, Lynn Court, Joyce Minns and Mollie Lockie, and Messrs. Jim Atkinson and Bert Lea. The dainty supper was the outstanding feature of the evening, the large cake with its .19 candles, in a setting of pink floral decorations, . and the many coloured hats of the guests making a gay picture. The toast of the evening was proposed by Mr. Jim Atkinson, and responded to by Mr. Keith Stewart, followed by a toast to the host and hostess by Mr. Stuart Robertson. Among those present were:— Mrs. Stewart, black chenille embossed georgette. Mrs. Bethwaite, black silk crepe frock. Mrs. Newman, opal blue silk crepe. Mrs. J. H. Bear, henna crepe bella and cream lace overdress. Mrs. G. Cadness, pink crepe de chine, tri..lined with cream lace. Miss Jean Stewart, pale pink crepe de chine and lace. Miss Marjorie Stewart, turquoise blue crepe de chine and silver lace. Miss Edith Hulbert, apricot charmeuse and black embroidered shawl. Miss Mavis Herrick, apricot taffeta and georgette. * Miss M. Newman, embossed lace over pale pink satin. Miss M. Heath, mauve bordered georgette, with silver ribbons. Miss D. Sharpe, rose pink crepe de chine, with overskirt of embossed net. Miss C. Sharpe, period frock of lilac satin. Miss Joyce Edmonds, blue shot taffeta, with pink shoulder posy. Miss J. Minns, blue velvet, with pale blue shawl. Miss M. Lockie, shell pink embossed georgette, with Spanish shawl. Miss Betty Gribben, bois de rose* and green crepe de chine. Miss E. Martin, mandarin red crepe de chine and hand-embroidered shawl. Miss Lynn Court, pompadour rose taffeta. Miss Doris Haylock, nankin blue crepe de chine. Miss Phyllis Hall, orange crepe de chine, trimmed in silver, and sliculder posy. OTAHUHU REUNION

OLD TIME DANCES • The Public Hall. Otahuhu, Wjas filled to capacity on Wednesday evening, when the residents of Otahuhu held their annual At Home. A delightful programme of musical numbers was supplied by the Old Colonists* Orchestra, under the leadership of Mrs. F. Andrew. The duties of M.G.’s were carried out by Messrs. A. Murdoch, J. Gillies, G. V. Pearce and H. Christini. The successful carrying out of the varicrtis duties by an energetic committee was mainly responsible for the success of the function. The members of the committee were: Messrs. J. Gillies (chairman), U. Christini, R. B. Todd, A. Murdoch, H. Hall, McConachie, Arlington, Walters, Payne. J. Whyte, Shepherd, F. Andrew, McCowatt, H. Lovell, J. Mclvor. McDonald, H. Nich-, olson, F. Leslie, Hill, Ogilvie, Douglas, K. Todd, T. Clements, Denison, Hickson, Boniface, G. Pearce, Crowe, J. Todd, R. Rudd, C. Morgan; hon. sec., Mr. PI. W. Thorpe. The grand march was led by Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Todd, and marshalled by the secretary. Quaintly patterned paper hats added gaiety to the evening. Several extras were supplied by Mr. Douglas with his accordion. During the evening much interest was displayed in a number of competitions. The awards were: Monte Carlo, Mr. T. Clements and Mrs. Walters; mazurka, Mr. and Mrs. Hicks; polka. Mr. A. Murdoch and partner. Community singing, which was led by Mr. Sutherland, and some old-time songs were given by Miss J£mily Moffat. “Love’s Old Sweet Song,” and Mr. W. Dickson, “Plymouth Hoe,” and “Sally Horner.” Mr. J. Gillies, on behalf of the committee, made gifts to a number of the well-known residents.
