Relief at North Shore.—Devonport Borough has spent £5lB in relief on unemployment this -winter, most of the money being raised by subscriptions. Since July, when the register of workless was opened, 91 men applied for work; 136 weeks’ work were provided for 71 men; 13 men offered work did no* report on the jobs; 10 men found other employment; only three men registered this week had not had an offer of work.
