RELIEF FOR EX-SOLDIERS
ASSOCIATION REPLIES TO CRITICISM Press Association WELLINGTON. To-day. The executive of the Standing Committee of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association recently considered the criticism of some members of Parliament that the distribution of funds by patriotic societies had not been as liberal as it should have been. The Standing Committee was unanimously of the opinion that the criticism was not. justified. It was satisfied that the funds had at all tirhes been generously disbursed within the limits of trusts. A further £ 5,000 had been made available by the National War Funds Council to provide relief for out-of-work soldiers, a contingency possibly not contemplated by the original donors. The additional £5,000 made available for that purpose had enabled a generous allowance to be made this winter.
