A GREAT PERFORMANCE

A notable feature of last year’s Hamilton to Auckland road race

was the remarkable performance of a 70 - year - old c o m p e t itor, Mr. E. Breckon. Th is s e p t u agenarian performer was started off from Hamilton at 5 a.m.

Mr. E. Breckon in order to give him a chance to arrive at the finishing post by 3 o’clock. Put much to his own surprise and certainly to everyone else’s, he arrived at 1.83 p.m., carrying a sealed handicap. He did the distance in Shrs SSmin , breaking his own previous record by 2hrs 42mins. This year, however. Mr, Breckon will content himself ivith seeing the riders off at Hamilton on the long trek to Auckland.
