VETERAN ORGANISER

Mr. George Sutherland, the organiser of the Pig race tomorrow and one who has done

much for the sport in A. u c k l a n d, was, in his day , one of the finest riders New Zealand ever produced. For thirteen years on end he ranked as

the best in the country and he has the honour of being the only cyclist to clinch all New Zealand championship events in one day. In 1900 he represented the Dominion at the world’s championship staged at Paris , later touring the Continent where he secured many big victories which made him a prominent figure in cycling circles throughout the world.
