: QUOTA CLAUSE SUSPENDED EXHIBITORS' CO-OPERATION Preaa Association \VELLINGTON. To-day. On the subject of the Government Cinematograph Films Bill, Mr. J.Robertson, secretary of the New Zealand Exhibition Association, said that while they did not welcome the Government’s interference with their busi—ness, they had recognised that the aim of the Government was legitimate and reasonable and, from a national view—point, desirable. “The Prime Minister has recognised that the exhibitors are meeting him fairly and he readily accepted an offer by the association to the enect that, if. the Government would suspend the operation of the compulsory quota clause, exhibitors would voluntarily screen the quota of the Bill," be said. “It is understood that failure to do so will bring the compulsory clauses into operation." Mr. Robertson was sure that the British film industry could supply sufficient good quality pictures to meet the demand.
